The 2008 Sporting Event of the Year

Well deserved.

Thinking back to the 2008 Winter Classic, it all seems like a blur to me. I was there with my stepdad and stood the entire time. My toes were frozen and the foot warmers didn't help me out at all. My hands were also numb. I had only ingested hot cocoa from Tim Horton's that whole day until the game was over but it was entirely worth it. It's an experience that I will never forget. Being there with Sabres and Penguins fans alike was so much fun. We didn't get the outcome that we wanted, but it doesn't mean that this game won't be in our heads for a long, long time.

He doesn't really look any different...besides the hair.

I love the way Ted Darling (correct me if I'm wrong) said Lindy's name whenever he scored. The way he said it just put me into a fit of giggles for some reason.

To this day, there have only been five players in franchise history to have scored four goals in a single game – joining Ruff and Martin were Dave Andrechuk, Alexander Mogilny and Miroslav Satan, respectively.

So this means Thomas Vanek is going to score four goals in a game eventually, right? Right?

I love when goalies do windmills.

I give Ryan Miller a 9.1. He didn't get his legs up all the way like a true windmill move, but he did it on Sidney Crosby and it makes it that much better.

Sabres sign massive defensemen to entry-level contract.

Welcome aboard, Tyler Myers!

Reading this news, I immediately went on Facebook to see if he was on there. Now, the one I think he is is friends with TJ Brennan but I'm scared to send him a friend request. Anyone done that yet? Let me know if you have!

After watching the Sabres pick him 12th overall at the Entry Draft last June, I was really excited to see how tall he really was. Even though it may be a disadvantage in some cases at the start of his hockey career, in the future he could be the next Zdeno Chara. Checking Chara's stats, he is 6'9". Tyler Myers is 6'8". We almost have a Chara like defensemen on our team, hooray!
Then again, Zdeno Chara can only be Zdeno Chara. He can be no one else.

The Sabres also announced that 94% of their season tickets were renewed. I hope my brothers were in that 94%. The fact that I'm going to college next year and getting a job will help me get tickets though if I want to go to a game and I can't get tickets from them.

'Cause you're everywhere to me.

Everywhere I look, I see these two. They are all over NHL.com today. This is because of the rivalry and the hype of the Penguins and Capitals meeting each other in the playoffs. I'm sure the marketing will be great for this series and what it's going to bring (and what it's brought so far, today). Two of the great superstars of the NHL of today facing one another for possibly seven games in the race to the Cup. I do not believe this rivalry crap for one second, though.

It might be because I like how both Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin play. Sure Sidney doesn't celebrate like Ovie does, and Ovie isn't a captain like Sid is, but they are each different in their own ways. The league are constantly playing the rivalry game, and I'm sure it's to amp everyone up when they face one another and to bring in tons of interest for the game. They could get so many viewers by hyping this entire series which I'm sure they have successfully done, myself being one to watch. That's because I like the Penguins.

Sidney and Alex are two different players. I believe they play two different styles of hockey. I don't care how great it is for the league to compare and contrast the two until it's beaten into everyone's skulls, and I sure as hell know they don't care what I think - But considering them to have a 'rivalry' is ridiculous. They are both superstars in their own right. I'll just leave it at that.
